Things NOT to do as the pastor

Over the past few days, I've heard some interesting stories of area pastors and their mistakes. Thus I've learned that I should NOT:
  • steal cattle ... and invite other congregation members to help me
  • double book the church for weddings
  • do major spring cleaning around the church and throw out church records ... this may cause proper Southern women to go dumpster diving at night to salvage valuable items

very funny. Isn't it interesting what is considered a mistake around the south as a Pastor.

I learned to be careful with sermon illustrations... you never know who actually was a catfish farmer.

Welcome to the webring!

Welcome to the Revgals! Sound advice for any pastor's "what to avoid" list...although, I have to say, it's never occurred to me to steal cattle. There are plenty to be found around here, but I'd have no idea what to do with them once I had absconded with them!

Welcome to REvGals :)

I live very near to a large ag university... I hadn't even considered cattle stealing!

funny stuff , you should come to rural Norfolk Uk- here the biggest mistake is clearing out dusty and grubby silk flowers- though they do produce similar dumpster raiding parties so maybe we're not all that different

Dear Emily- we're having a big cleaning day at my church- and we have already discussed how to avoid having members dumpster diving and retrieving stuff- do ai at night? in secret? just before the trash pickup company comes and hauls it away?....

as for what to avoid, I still am at the "do I even own any pantyhose to preach in" stage of ministry....
